Hey, I'm Megan with WTI and if you are ready to upgrade your chess and checker set from plastic to wood, I would definitely recommend this one by PLAYVIBE. I just recently got it from my son who is really into chess. We thoroughly enjoyed playing it together and I was so impressed by how gorgeous these wood pieces are crafted. I will admit I was a little bit concerned that when you open the board, the pieces on the inside would fall right out but they actually didn't because of the foam insert. I was able to remove the chess pieces and the checker pieces still stayed in on the inside and didn't fall out while they were upside down under the board. The wood pieces are really smooth and the board itself is very lightweight. Of course, I love that all the pieces are stored right inside the board when you seal it up so that you can keep everything together. I really think this board would make the perfect gift for the chess or checker's lover in your life. I know my son really was thrilled when we got it for him and that's my point of view.
