Hi, I'm Nicole with WTI, and this is The Miserable Mill by Lemonie Snicket. This is book four in the series of unfortunate events, and of course it is another fantastic episode in the unfortunate lives of the bottler orphans. So after their mishaps with Aunt Josephine, they end up being put in the care of the Lucky Smells lumber mill and being forced to do hard physical labor like chopping logs and debarking trees, and they get paid in gum and coupons. But you know, since they don't get paid any money, they can't use the coupons. It's a super weird situation. Now across the street, there is an optometrist's office, right? Which Klaus needs because he has glasses. His glasses break. He gets sent to the eye doctor's office, and the eye doctor's receptionist is Count Olaf disguised as a woman named Shirley. Now in this book, they keep seeing this repeated pattern of a big eye, and that holds some key significance to the rest of the series. So look out for references to that eye motif in this book. I love Lemonie Snicket's writing style. I think it's hilarious. It is well crafted. It's a little bit ominous, which makes you want to keep reading. No matter what age you are, I know that you will love this book, and that's my point of view.
