"Aguiland Safaris, an incredible safari animal park located just outside of College Station, Texas."

Today, I want to share my thoughts on Aguiland Safaris, an incredible safari animal park located just outside of College Station, Texas—about an hour and a half north of Houston.

First Impressions

The grounds are beautifully divided into themed sections, each with its own unique appeal. The main hub is the spacious visitor center, where you can grab tickets, browse the gift shop, and even pick up some food and drinks.

Ticket Options

There are several ticket tiers, but I highly recommend the all-inclusive package. Why? Because it gives you the most animal interactions, which is really the whole point of visiting, right? Some tickets even include food to share with the animals and a souvenir cup—worth it!

Must-See Attractions

1. Giraffe Enclosure

Just outside the visitor center, you’ll find a large pavilion with picnic tables (perfect for a break from the Texas sun) and restrooms. Right next to it? The giraffe enclosure!

This was my favorite part of the entire visit. Feeding and interacting with these gentle giants was an unforgettable experience—no time limits, just pure enjoyment. (Fair warning: you might get licked!)

2. Playground & Animal Enclosures

Nearby, there’s a small playground for kids to burn off energy, plus several animal enclosures where you can feed and observe creatures up close.

My wife’s favorite? The nocturnal animals exhibit, where she got to see her all-time favorite animal—the sloth!

3. Parakeet Feeding

If your ticket includes food, don’t miss the parakeet encounter. These little birds are not shy—they’ll happily join you for a snack!

The Drive-Thru Safari

A big part of Aguiland Safaris is the drive-thru experience, where you can either:

- Take your own vehicle or

- Hop on a provided safari bus (if your ticket includes it).

You’ll cruise through different pastures, each home to various animals—mostly antelope species from around the world. Some are very eager to come up and say hello (and maybe snag a snack).

The Highlight: Animal Encounters

If you go for the all-inclusive ticket, you get one exclusive animal encounter. My wife and I chose the capybaras—and they were adorable! We got to feed them, pet them, and just hang out as long as they were interested.

After this experience, if someone asks me about "rodents of unusual size," I’d say: They definitely exist!

What to Bring

- A hat & sunscreen (most of the park is outdoors)

- Comfortable, lightweight shoes (paths are dusty)

- A small backpack (for tickets, food, water, and your camera)

Final Thoughts

If you love animals and dream of a safari but Africa isn’t in the cards, Aguiland Safaris is a fantastic alternative. It’s a fun, interactive, and memorable day trip that I’d highly recommend.
