No water needed. It also has a built-in speaker. So how cool is that? It's wireless, you can pre-charge it and then you can take it on the go, connect via Bluetooth. I really like to play nature songs or other spa-like music to go along with my diffuser. It also has things like a timer or different diffuser levels along with a really glowy light. I also really like how sleek it is. You would never know that it's a diffuser or a speaker even. It just kind of blends into your space.
