Hi, my name is Lynn with WTI. Now with this flower painting I'm going to just do a little bit of highlighting with the pure white. This is what these flowers actually look like with white tips on them. It creates such a beautiful crisp contrast against the darker colors. The use of white here gives the painting three dimensions based on the contrast of colors. Now in this eagle painting it's a fine example of the use of white. In the background the snow and of course the eagles are standing on snow with their white feathers. Adding white to several different colors here creates different tones. It's not only used as a highlight but also it's needed to create many varieties of colors such as pastel colors and some things are not bright colors so the white can tone it down. As you can see what happens when I add white to a lighter blue I get a nice soft light blue and a color like this can change even the mood of my work and I like that. We can see here how smooth the texture is of the paint. It has a perfect consistency out of the tube. White is used very often in paintings and most artists like myself have a larger tube of it on hand and that's my point of view.
