Our Point of View on Knipex® 10" Connector Pliers

Hello everyone and welcome back to What Tools Inside? I'm Matt, this is Josh and this is our point of view. Today we will be talking to you about these Knipex pipe gripping pliers. These aren't any ordinary pipe gripping pliers. These have plastic pieces inserts that you can take in and out. Why don't we take a look at that? There you are. Look at that. That's nice. That is the pipe gripping plier. That's what they look like. They are designed to grip onto soft surfaces that you don't want to mar for the finish. Like chrome or any kind of steel that you want. You can grip that as much as you want and as you turn it or whatever you are not going to leave behind little metal shards or anything else. Remember that crossover where the metal shards that come off of pliers sometimes will touch the chrome and will start rusting it. You don't want any of that. That's what comes in real handy with these removable plastic grips. How hard is it to remove them? They are actually very easy to remove. Just before I do that I want to show you. You adjust them down. The thumb depressors on here and you slide it in whatever direction you want. This is like a microphone holder thing. It's got grips on it. I don't want to scratch all this up. I don't want to ruin it. The metal finishes on it. They get really tight over time. This allows you to get a good grip on it, take it off and not ruin the finish. That's very critical about these things. Let's see a close up of how this comes off. In the back of the pliers on each side it has a little screw right here that you would just take off. I'll show you the reason why you would have these like this. Take this one off the back of this side. They sit in there kind of snug. These just hold them in place. Don't lose those little screws. Those are important. It's for when you want to replace these things. These come out one and two. Now you've got a pair of pipe clamp pliers. You know the big underneath the sink you need to get on that. It looks like you could have a little oil change with that. Almost. It's pretty big. Here's your example of how it will really grip on a pipe. Can I go in for another close up? Yeah, let's do a close up. Yeah, that grips. Here, I'm going to show you the back of it. Yeah, that really... It's multiple purpose. They won't pinch your fingers. The way these, when they close, it's one, your thumb depresses this button and adjusts it to the different sizes. Really a great set of pliers. A very unique and interesting design. Sometimes you say to yourself, boy, I wish they made a pair of pliers for this. And now they do. And IPEX does.
