The Egg and I Book

Hey there, this is Tara with WTI. If you're looking for a good laugh out loud book, then this book, The Egg and I by Betty McDonald is just the ticket. Mother set the table with candles and silver and glassware and flowers every night whether we had company or not. Grammy preferred to eat in the kitchen with peeler knives and carving forks. It was a lesson in cross purposes. The result now is that one day I barely cleaned my house and the next day I'm liable to lick the rafters and clean out nail holes with a needle. Some of the things I never got used to were the hen, the gasoline lantern, the outhouse at night, bats hanging upside down in the cellar. I never for a moment fooled a hen and after three or four packs I would be a bundle of chittering hysteria with the hens in complete command. I imagine that with lights and running water in the chicken houses we wouldn't have to get up until about half past seven or eight. Oh that won't make any difference Bob said. Chickens have to be fed anyway and the earlier you feed them the sooner they start to lay. Which just goes to show that a man in the chicken business is not his own boss at all. The hen is the boss. This is just a good classic book that's gonna make you laugh and you're gonna even want to pass around to family and friends. I have truly enjoyed it and I think you will too and that is just my point of view.
