It gives you the extra space so that you can fit all of your long hair. This has been an excellent swim cap for me for my long hair and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a generous swim cap that they know is going to completely cover their hair all the way and then also cover down on their ears. So it's really worked out for me. I have found it to be very durable and very stretchy. It's easy to put on. It does exactly what I need it to do and that's keep all of my hair up and protected from the pool water while I'm swimming. And that is my point of view.
