Hi, I'm Nicole with WTI, and today I'm here to talk to you about Ian Reed's foe. Now, you might recognize Ian Reed's name from the best-selling psychological thriller I'm Thinking of Ending Things. This book is a lot like that one, but in my opinion, this one's actually better. It's his second novel, it's more polished, it's very high concept, so let me explain what I mean. This book opens up to a guy named Junior, who is very happily married out in the country to his wife. He doesn't really want to move, he doesn't really want to go places or do things other than live happily with his wife and go to work every day. But then the government shows up and they're like, hey, you are getting forcibly conscripted to go live in space, and we're also going to make a biosynthetic robot to replace you in your own marriage. Junior doesn't really like that. Who would? So this book shows us what it means to fear being replaced in your own life, and it also shows us what happens as the main character Junior has to be trained to fill the mind of his own robotic replacement. It even shows us what happens when the robot and the man are switched. So I found a lot to love in this book, clearly, and I think you will too. I read it in one sitting. I really recommend it, and that's my point of view.
