What makes them last is this stuff right here. So this is called the here to stay from Essie and what it does it helps to adhere your nail polish to your nail. It creates a fine protective layer that if you are using a colored nail polish it is not going to stain the nail and it will help extend the durability for up to two days. When I use this it helps my colored polish manicure to last like two weeks. So what I do is I start off applying it to the clear clean nail after it has already been buffed and everything. Then I apply one coat of this once it is a little bit tacky not quite dry. That is when I stick my strip on and I find that is what adheres the stickiness of the strip to the stickiness of the nail. It really seals it in there, really captures it, keeps it nice and firm on the nail. Then once the nail polish is on the cured nail polish I will go and I will put a coat on top. So it is a base coat but it works well as a top coat. It is just a clear top coat to help strengthen and to help it stay better. So I am a big fan of this stuff. I have purchased many many bottles and I hope it never goes out of stock. I love it so much and that is my point of view.
