Hi there, I'm Kristi with WTI. Have you ever read something that someone else wrote? And you think to yourself, oh my goodness, that's exactly how I feel. Well, when I read Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown, that was essentially my experience the whole time. In this book, she reviews 87 different emotions. She defines all of them beautifully. And what it's really done for me has increased my emotional intelligence. It's completely changed the way I think about connecting with other people. And overall, I just feel like it's made me a better human. I want to share with you my favorite gem out of this whole book. And it's when she's talking about empathy, how she defines empathy is absolutely beautiful. It says we need to dispel the myth that empathy is walking in someone else's shoes. Rather than walking in your shoes, I need to learn how to listen to the story you tell about what it's like in your shoes and believe you even when it doesn't match my experiences. Have you ever had an experience where someone really listened to you, someone really cared, and they validated your feelings, how good that felt to your soul, or vice versa. If you poured out your heart to someone and told them how you felt, how if they didn't respond and they didn't believe you, it could break that connection. That's just one gem in this whole book. It's so good. I think everybody should read it. It is healing. It will only benefit you. I love it. And that's my point of view.
